Lupin surprises Harry

Knowing Sirius was in the other room made the day pass so slowly. None of the classes had homework even some of the students noticed. Once classes were over Remus spent his time with Sirius, catching up on old times. Remus made a plan with him to stay in his rooms so he could surprise Harry. It was getting close to time for their normal lesson time. He stood by his classroom door anxiously waiting.

Harry stood outside the classroom door for a moment before knocking. He had to admit that he was more then a little worried that Lupin's "surprise" would involve being tackled in the hallway. He looked around one last time, and then knocked.

Lupin put his hand on the doorknob and took a steadying breath before opening it. He smiled brightly at Harry. "Come on in. I've got something wonderful to show you but first," he said reaching into his pocket, "I want to blindfold you."

"Only if you swear you aren't going to attack me," Harry said, looking Lupin over cautiously.

"No," Lupin laughed, "No attacks. I promise. It has nothing to do with your lessons." He held out the strip of fabric for Harry to take. "I just don't want you to see it before its time. I know you'll love it."

Harry took the fabric and sighed. "This better not be a trick," he muttered, before covering his eyes. He loosely tied it into a neat knot and crossed his arms. "What now?" he asked.

Lupin took Harry by his shoulders leading him through his classroom and up the steps to his private rooms. He opened the door to see Sirius sitting comfortably on his sofa. He pressed his finger to his lips before Sirius could give himself away. "Now I want you to sit right here," he pushed Harry back far enough to let him know that there was a seat there.

Sirius grinned to himself, watching as Harry gingerly sat down.

"Professor... I. Can I look now? I keep thinking something bad is going to happen," Harry said softly.

Lupin quietly stepped around behind the chair Harry was sitting in. He bent down to undo the knot. "You can look now," he said backing up putting the fabric in his pocket.

Harry sat looking dumbfounded. His hands shook slightly on his lap as he looked at his dead godfather.

"Hello Harry," Sirius said quietly.

Harry quickly stood up and backed away, looking at Lupin. "Is this a joke? Do you think this is funny?" He asked, still shaking a little.

"It isn't a joke Harry," Lupin reassured, "I thought the same thing when I found him," he stepped over to Sirius, "but it's really him." He put an arm on Sirius' shoulders.

"I... I don't believe it." Harry said, shivering.

Sirius stood up and took a step forward. "Harry, I swear, it's me. Remus wouldn't lie to you. It's me. Come here, come on, I've missed you so much." Sirius said softly.

"It really is him," Lupin walked over to Harry standing beside him, "He knows things that only Sirius would know." He glanced over to the other man and added quietly, "He's back Harry. I wouldn't lie to you about something like this."

Harry looked from Lupin to Sirius and let out a sob. He rushed over to his godfather and wrapped his arms around him.

"I'm so sorry Sirius," he said softly, "I didn't mean to... " Harry trailed off and started to sob again.

Sirius held the boy closer and looked up at Remus. He rubbed Harry's back and pulled him close. "It's alright," he said, "everything is alright Harry."

Lupin stepped back over to where they were standing. "I thought you'd like to spend some time with him before I let the Headmaster know he's alive." He ran a hand through Harry's hair and smiled.

Harry pulled away from Sirius and nodded, not taking his eyes off the other man.

"How?" Harry asked.

"Does it matter?" Sirius asked with a shrug. "I'm back now and I'm not going anywhere." He looked up at Remus and smiled. "How about a meal Moony?" He asked, pulling Harry into another hug. "My godson is too skinny, thought you were looking after him for me?"

"I have looked after him," Lupin chuckled, "Would you like some kind of a snack Harry?" He motioned to the door. "I can go to the kitchens and get whatever you want. I've got tea in the other room."

Harry shook his head no and looked back to Sirius. "Not hungry," He said, touching his godfather's hair. Harry was still convinced it couldn't be for real.

Sirius rolled his eyes and looked at Remus. "Fine, we won't feed you then. What do you think we should do then Remus? We ought to do something special... yeah?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah," Lupin perked up slightly, "We could go to the Room of Requirement or stay here." He looked from Harry to Sirius hoping that he didn't look worried.

"Room of Requirement," Sirius said quickly, before Harry could answer. "I've been in these rooms all day, I want to wander a little."

Harry shrugged. "Yeah, alright. What are we going to do there though?"

Sirius shrugged again and turned into a dog. He pounced on Harry, knocking the young man onto his back. The large black dog barked and licked at Harry's face.

"It's a bit risky for you to go wondering around," Lupin said to the black dog, "What if we ran into somebody?" This time he didn't bother hiding how worried he was.

Sirius just barked and wagged his tail.

Harry pushed the dog off of him and sat up. "We still haven't decided what we're going to do," He pointed out, scratching Padfoot behind the ears.

"All right," Lupin gave in and crossed his arms. He remembered how Sirius felt at Grimmauld Place. "Since you don't want to stay here. We can go to the Room of Requirement and catch up on things."

Sirius barked happily and bounded over to Lupin, yapping and jumping up.

Harry watched and laughed as he stood up. "Alright, let's go then," he said heading to the door.

"Now we can't have any of that in the halls," Lupin scratched Padfoot behind the ears, "I'll lead the way just incase we run into anyone. I can distract them while you two go on ahead."

They made their way through the halls without trouble. Sirius' claws quietly clicking on the stone ground.

Harry stayed close behind Lupin, while Padfoot wove around the two.

It didn't take long for the trio to reach their destination, and soon they were standing outside the Room of Requirement. Sirius sat and panted happily, tail wagging and thumping off the ground.

Lupin walked by twice before the door appeared. He opened the door to a giant room filled beanbag chairs and a huge bed in the corner. They all walked in and claimed their own chairs.

"I'd forgotten what it was like to sit in a chair like this," Lupin said trying to get comfortable and failing.

Sirius transformed and plopped down. "You must be getting old Moony," he said with a grin.

Harry laughed and got himself comfortable, smiling to himself as he watched the older men smile at each other.

"Yeah, well I'm going to sit over there," Lupin pointed to the bed, "Don't forget to yell so old Moony can hear you." He mocked as he made himself comfortable on the edged of the bed.

"Aww Moony, don't be like that," Sirius said as he got up and mad his way over to the bed.

Harry watched them both quietly from where he sat, not sure if he should follow.

"Was just teasing," Lupin smiled, "Come on over Harry. Don't be a stranger." He motioned for him to come over.

Harry made his way to the bed and got comfortable. For hours they talked about Harry's grades and classes, his extra lessons - to which Sirius added his comments, and everything else inbetween. Harry fell asleep first soon followed by Sirius and Remus. The three of them slept cuddled up against one another in the giant bed.
